| WHAT IS JERRAPARK? |
Jerrapark is a 16 hectare (40 acre) demonstration farm, that started in 1991 with a concept of developing a sustainable living system. Utilising Bill Mollison and David Holmgren's permaculture design principals and incorporating Rudolf Steiners approach to bio-dynamic farming. The aim is renewing the connection with nature and cosmic energy in a holistic approach.

The climate is subtropical, at an altitude of 300 m, with spectacular views to Mt. Warning and the surrounding caldera. 4 hectares (10 acres) are designated to food production, these include vegetable gardens, fruit forests and bush foods. This yields a rich diversity of Australian native and Asian-Pacific foods and products. Balanced biodiversity is the main aim for this part of the property and is accompanied by continuous research and record keeping. |

Since 1992 we are in the process of replanting sections of the property with native subtropical rainforest to act as a wild life corridor. Till now about 40.000 rainforest trees are planted. This Project is an initial part of a greater plan for the whole Region linking the Border Ranges National Park, Mebin National Park with Wollumbin (Mt. Warning) National Park and Nightcap National Park, creating a larger biosphere to re-establish the lost subtropical rainforest and enable increased bio diversity of native Flora and Fauna.

The Jerrapark Project as whole attracts support from International Students and Practitioners studying Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Biology, Ecology, Enviromental Sience, Permaculture and Bio-dynamic Farming as well as Willing Workers on Organic Farms.
A small studio, built with natural materials and solar passive design is available for accommodation for those seeking to reconnect with nature in peaceful retreat or who wish to take a more active part in our ongoing projects. |

Two restored rattlers from the early 30s purchased from the Queensland Railway provide four rooms, with two beds each. Futher Caravans and a Bedford bus from the late fifty's. A bushrock building with covered veranda accommodates the kitchen, showers, toilets and shared living area as a meeting place for communication and information exchange. |

Solar, photovoltaic and renewable energy is utilised. Jerrapark water is collected from both rain water and natural springs, grey water is recycled through a system of grease traps and reed beds.
You can find us nestled in the foothills of the Caldera (the top end of the Maclean-Macpherson overlap) in the Rainbow Region of New South Wales, about 1.15hour drive from Byron Bay (Nimbin Shuttle Bus Connection), 45 min drive from Lismore or 50 min from Murwillumbah. |
